One question I want to ask: why do we spend so much money on health care and  is still one of the worlds leaders in health problems? The number of people dying each year is increasing. Something isn’t working with our medical system and the media driven diets. Yes I think our allopathic health care system are good for pill pushers and good for patching someone up after a car accident but not for helping someone maintain optimal health and prevent disease. Self care is what’s  needed  to prevent disease, and maintain optimal health.

My name is Chaun Williams, I’ve been into the study of health since I was a kid. It all started with exercise and soon after I found that diet played a major part in our health. I have a background in Massage Therapy, weight training, yoga, many forms of body weight exercises, and dance. I am also currently pursuing a degree in Nutrition Science while  simultaneuosly partaking in personal health studies on the subject of nutrition. I am a firm believer in eating whole foods for optimal health and I’ve found tremendous benefit with raw plants, due to the fact that it is great for cleansing the body. I don’t consider myself a vegetarian, vegan, fruitarian, or any title with an “ism.” Optimal health has been and always will be a journey for me. I love food, and I want the best there is. I’ve learned to keep an open mind and to never consider anything a “fact” because many so called “facts” change. I do consume certain animals  because I believe they play an important role in our health. Cleansing is good for ridding the body of certain bodily issues but it’s not good to continuously cleanse even when those issues no longer exist. I believe there’s a time for building and a time for cleansing. This website is clearly geared toward cleansing. I cleanse only when needed.

My diet consist of a very high percent of plants and some animals(sometimes raw : ) Raw green leafy vegetables, a variety of colorful veggies, vegetable juices, sea algae(blue-green algae), lake algae(spirulina and chlorella), sprouts(home grown wheatgrass, alfalfa sprouts, broccoli sprouts, bean sprouts-grown in my house. I’m an urban farmer, lol.), and sea vegetables(Nori, Wakame and Dulse).

The fats in my diet consist of organic extra virgin coconut oil, olive oil, avocado, olives, fat dominate nuts(pecans, almonds, cashews, pine nuts), Seeds(pumpkin, sunflower, chia, flax, rye, oats). The fruits in my diet are lots of berries(Goji berries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, tropical fruits(mango, pineapple, etc., general fruits(apples, oranges, lemons, grapefruit, plums, peaches, etc.

Superfoods are also amazing foods that I incorporate in my diet on a daily basis. Superfoods work wonders for mental clarity and they work wonders for mineralizing the body. They are: Raw Cacao(the plant every chocolate product is made from/loaded with nutrients and helps support energy levels throughout the day), Goji berries(used in traditional chinese medicine for centuries/ high in carotenoids), Maca Root( grows in Peru at the highest elevations and it’s an adaptogen which helps to relieve stress on a deep level and is known to help with impotency), Young Thai Coconuts(electrolyte rich), Raw Wild Honey(loaded with minerals, and enzymes that help break down food), Bee Pollen(helps to build immune system/ also plays a major role in helping you naturally overcome allergies) , Camu Camu(Loaded with Vitamin C)Chinese herbs, and medicinal mushrooms.

Note that I don’t eat all this stuff everyday. I switch it up every once in a while depending on what I want to eat.

I also like to fast. I do a half day fast or I may fast one day a week on nothing but spring water, fruit juice mixes and veggie juice all day. This really helps to clean the body. Common worries are B12 deficiency and lack of protein.  B12 deficiency is a common problem among Vegans and Vegetarians. Animal products are the best sources of B12 and protein but studies say it’s not the only source. If eating meat is a problem then B12 supplements should be incorporated into your diet.

Minimally processed foods contain high amounts of nutrients for the body. Most foods are devoid of it’s nutrition from being overly processed, and though modern techniques of cultivation. None of these foods that I recommend have crazy health claims written all over them like most store bought packaged foods. You know exactly what they are without a list of hard to pronounce synthetic chemical ingredients listed on the packaging. Pesticides and other forms of harmful toxic chemicals are common problems with produce so be sure that the produce is organic or wild. Conventionally grown produce are treated with synthetic chemicals. There’s more than 9,000 phytonutrients working for you when you eat delicious raw foods so no need to name all of the things inside these wonderful living plants, just know that your getting an abundance of nutritional benefit. I don’t count carbs, fats, sugars or calories, I just buy my food fresh.  I hope you find this very simple, easy and fun. Good Luck!
